I'd suggest that people who advocate "greed" as the natural disposition of people and society (specifically the "Darwinian, Capitalistic, 'Dog eat Dog' world where survival of the fittest" rules ) actually are just rationalizing their behavior - either to ease a guilty conscience or to get others to buy into a world where advocates of greed-as-natural benefit.
